Patterson Custom Builders in Raleigh, North Carolina, was formed in 2007 by Tony Patterson and his father Charles Patterson Jr.
The original company, Patterson Builders, was started by Tony's great-grandfather, Ivan Winslow Patterson, years ago.
Tony's great-grandfather built many of the homes in Harnett County and the Spring Lake area. His son, Charles Sr. decided to take a different path in the industry and became a reputable superintendent of many of the local commercial construction companies in the area.
Charles Jr., who was raised mainly by his grandfather Ivan, became somewhat of a master carpenter. He found his specialty in interior construction.
Tony grew up in the construction industry. Since he was a young boy, he was sweeping houses, wrapping windows, and building small things on job sites. When Tony became a teenager he began working with his dad and grandfather and learned how to frame houses, build decks, and do interior trim.
In school, Tony focused on business courses and construction technology. Tony went to work for a local general contractor where he worked in several capacities of the construction industry and gained experience in all phases of residential and light commercial construction. He is still extremely involved in the field operations on many of the construction projects, mainly in the structural phases to ensure the project is built correctly and to minimize the possibility of structural defects in the building.
At the age of 19, Tony received his license for general contracting and made it his goal to start his company and provide quality general contracting services.
